A Look Back at Time Festival with Ryan Hemsworth

This summer has been quite the summer when it comes to music festivals. A few weekends ago, Time Festival came back to Toronto and brought together some of the best names in house, electronic and contemporary music. Presented by EMBRACE, this year’s line up included Die Antwoord, Mac Demarco, Badbadnotgood, Ariel Pink, Yung Lean, Ryan Hemsworth, DIIV, Alison Wonderland, Tory Lanez, Tommy Kruise, Lobby, and Eliot Vincent Jones. With nothing but sunshine on that weekend, groups gathered to dance under the stars at the historic Fort York Garrison Common which has quickly become the hottest spot to see music and for festivals this summer.

But today I’d like to highlight one artist in particular; Ryan Hemsworth. No, contrary to what you may think, he is not the long lost brother of Liam and Chris but a Canadian DJ who is quickly making a name for himself on the electronic music scene.Born in the east coast of Canada, this Nova Scotlan native was raised in Halifax. Having worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry like Grimes, Frank Ocean, Tinashe, Cat Power and more…Ryan Hemsworth has created his own unique electronic hip hop sound that is taking the clubs and stages by storm. And his performance at the Time Festival was a true testament to his immense talent.

Releasing his second album, Alone for the First Time, in 2014, the future seems limitless for this young talent. At only twenty-five, this Juno winning producer  and artist (winner of the Electronic Album of the Year, 2014) has already made his mark within the music industry creating a distinct synthetic sound in an album that keeps you wanting more.
