Channeling your #POWEROFSTYLE on Television

Today, my friend and colleague Heather Greeenwood Davis dropped by Canada AM to share her tips on how to travel solo as a women. If you haven’t done it yet, exploring the world on your own is an empowering experience that I urge everyone to try. But for such an occasion, figuring out what to wear for this television segment can always be a challenge. The key when planning for your next on-air segment, is to find the right outfit that looks great on television as well. Earlier that week we dropped by Reitmans to find the perfect look. Their latest collection, Willow & Thread helps women channel their #POWEROFSTYLE to portray their confidence as much in their personality as in their clothes. By mixing and matching those pieces with their regular collection, we found the perfect finely tailored outfit that looks great on air. Also, before picking out an outfit, figure out the layout for the interview. Will you be sitting or standing? What is the backdrop? What is the dress code?
Try and offer some variety in your style to what the hosts wear to help set you apart. When picking out a dress or skirt, consider whether or not your legs are showing to determine how long the hemline of your dress should be. A little trick, if you are opting to wear a patterned top on camera, ground the colours a little by pairing it with a solid coloured blazer or wearing a solid bottom (or vice versa). This will help the prints not look too busy on camera. Be sure to also pick an outfit the fits well and helps you look the part!

Here are my top 3 pieces from Willow & Thread! What are yours?
