Come Up to My Room 2016 at The Gladstone Hotel

Located in the vibrant Queen West neighbourhood in Toronto, The Gladstone Hotel uniquely blends historical Victorian architecture with contemporary luxury, downtown culture and art making it the perfect destination for any visitor looking for something different during their next visit to Toronto. IMG_2268As a part of the Toronto Design Offsite Festival (TO DO)Come Up to My Room 2016 (CUTMR) will take over The Gladstone Hotel from January 21-24, 2016 to bring the 13th edition of the hotels exhibition bringing together artists to take over the hotel’s public and gallery art spaces. This year, some exciting features include:

– The Racket Club’s Life Moves Fast is an homage to 80s teendom by way of a recreation of Ferris Bueller’s bedroom from the cult classic
– Hotel Hotel by Lamers Bramm Design (LBD) that seeks to showcase the Hotel’s cultural presence within its surrounding environment
– Untitled (Idolization Space) is a project by Sara Nickelson and Studio WOOLF that submits to the discordance of the creative mind, juxtaposing stillness of space and hyper-visual iconography
– Chinedu Ukabam’s Style & Profile analyzes the relationship between the African barber and his service of shaping identity
– Overworld by TAXA WORK is an interactive installation that sees a hotel room split vertically in two, where revellers will get to literally take a peek into the “overworld”
– Jessica Bromley Bartram’s The Rise and Fall of Cordycepts presents a biotech company whose
