- How did you begin your career in the fashion and beauty industry?
I have always been a big hair junkie and I started in the beauty industry modeling with various hair companies when I was 13. Fast forward to my college days, I was studying at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising when I started working in the stock room of a MAC Cosmetics store in Beverly Hills and the rest is history!
- What was it about the beauty industry that intrigued you the most?
Ever since I was a kid I’ve idolized supermodels for their natural beauty and how they could transform their appearance with just a little makeup and hair styling. Once I started doing makeup I realized how it could enhance the way someone feels and boost confidence; like a model walking down a runway! To this day I still enjoy having that positive effect on my clients and it’s the most rewarding feeling.
- What sparked you to create beGlammed?
I have a friend that loves booking a professional hairstylist and makeup artist to come to her when she travels. She was venting to me about how frustrating it can be to find a quality stylist to come to her. At the time, I had recently started using Uber and fell in love with the convenient of a cashless on-demand car service and thought “why not create an Uber for hair and makeup artists on demand?”
- Is there an entrepreneur that you admire the most?
I really admire The Knot co-founder Carley Roney. Not only is she a fellow female tech entrepreneur, she also has an aspiring story of extreme highs and lows in her career and still remains positive and leads her vastly growing team at the XO Group with a strong foundation of cultural company values that motivate her team to work hard and have fun doing it!
- What has been the biggest achievement/obstacle in your career so far?
Starting a company was major achievement. Seeing an idea in my mind come to fruition like beGlammed has been a dream come true. Had I known how rewarding it feels to be an entrepreneur I may have created something sooner!
- Any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs and #CREATORS?
Work hard, keep driving forward, and don’t let anything stop you
