Bringing the flavours of Spain to the heart of Toronto, Estrella Damm has launched their inaugural Tapas Journey. On until August 23rd, Estrella Damm will be pairing their refreshing summer beer with a three dish tapas menu at participating restaurants. With twenty restaurants joining this exciting journey, each spot will present three unique and complimenting dishes that are perfect for a summertime snack. With a variety of restaurants flavours, cuisines and culinary types are joining together to bring people from all over Toronto together to join this Tapas Journey. Last night, we dropped by Mamakas Taverna on Ossington to travel to Greece for the evening. This restaurant was designed to make you feel like you’re on an island in the Cyclades in the Mediterranean Sea and boasts an authentic inspired menu of traditional Greek food presented in a contemporary way. Created by Chris Kalisperas, the executive chef of Mamakas Taverna found his true passion of Greek cuisine while living in Cyprus and infuses fresh seasonal flavours into his menu to create his own unique spin on Greek cuisine.
Their tapas menu included:
- Beef Heart Souvlaki: Grilled beef heart, roasted onions, clay pepper, oregano and tzatziki
- Sheftalia: Caul fat wrapped offal sausage, buffalo yogurt, charred green onion and pepper
- Paxos on Toast: Pickled green tomato, anchovy, cured pork fat and fried bread
