To kick of a busy, fashion filled week, Fashion Group International awarded Bonnie Brooks of the Hudson’s Bay Company the FGI International Award of the Year for her significant contributions to Canada’s retail landscape. Held at the SHOPIFY Head Offices, the Toronto fashion community joined together to celebrate her accomplishments and partake in a successful speed networking session.
Forging an innovative path through the Canadian fashion industry, Bonnie Brooks is the is the former president & CEO, and current Vice President of the world’s oldest continuously operating company, Hudson’s Bay (which also owns and operates Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor USA and all Hudson’s Bay department stores in Canada) and has spent her career building and repositioning fashion and luxury retail businesses across the world. “If you can dream it, you can do it,” Bonnie Brooks was quoted as saying during her acceptance speech of the International Award of the Year as she urged a room of established and up and coming fashion professionals to “Listen to your hearts and listen to your heads. Our pursuit in life is to balance these two.”
Fashion Group International was founded in New York City in 1930 by former VOGUE Editor-in-Cheif Edna Woolman Chase. Starting as a women’s only luncheon organization based in NYC, Fashion Group International has grown to over 5000 members with 33 chapters worldwide. With great monthly events that provide insight on major trends and access to amazing networking opportunities with other fashion business professionals, Fashion Group International strives to advance professionalism in fashion and its related lifestyle industries. Fashion Group International members must be involved in in the fashion industry (including apparel, accessories, beauty and home) for at least three years and be approved by the main chapter in New York.
