We spend so many hours in the day sitting at our desks, in the car or in front of screens that it is important to find ways to incorporate physical activity in our everyday lives. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of your typical gym or lifting weights to stay active. I stumbled across Spynga a couple years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. With a variety of spinning, yoga and strength training classes, their studio provides a comprehensive range of classes that will condition your entire body!
I love their signature Spynga Flow class mixes 25 minutes of high intensity cardio in spinning followed by another 25 minutes to strengthen, stretch and cool down with yoga. It is the perfect combination because it balances maximum cardiovascular conditioning by increasing your heart rate with spinning followed by a cool down through yoga that is not only relaxing but prevents injury.
New to their weekly schedule, the Cycle Strength class is my new favourite thing! Incorporating a kettle bell movement sequence on the bike, this class allows your body to redeem the benefits of resistance training and cardiovascular conditioning at the same time. Kettle bells are also special in their shape and effectiveness as you can manipulate it in more ways than you can with dumbbells or hand weights while maintain a healthy heart rate while pedaling continuously on your bike.
For all of the expecting and new mothers out there, let Spynga be your pre and post natal fitness destination. Keeping you strong and flexible, Spynga offers a supportive environment to keep you active during this changing time in their life. For mommy’s to be, there are hour long prenatal yoga and yoga bootcamp to keep you strong and centered while preparing your mind and body for this upcoming change. New mommy’s can now incorporate their baby into their fitness routine with their mama+baby classes allowing you to continue your yoga, spinning, barre class with your baby in tow!
