“Getting Ready for your Summer Road Trip” as seen on Rogers Daytime

With summer just around the corner, take advantage of the upcoming warmer months and plan weekend jaunts around Ontario and the surrounding areas. And with a the long weekends ahead of us, I’ve decided to share my essential items to bring on a road trip with you today on Rogers Daytime to pack into my Acura RDX.

Summer Reading.
If you’re anything like me, vacations are the best time that I get to catch up on my reading list during those long times in transit or simply while I am unwinding on the beach. Take the load out of your luggage by bringing all of your favourite books with you on the road with the Kobo Aura H20.

Beat Jet Lag.
One of the most common side effects of jet lag is the disruption of sleep that can lead to daytime fatigue and other symptoms leaving you feeling unwell. Help combat those telltale signs of jet lag with Dream Water, the fast acting, non-prescription liquid sleep aid that helps you sleep naturally. This product encourages you to get a good night’s sleep on flights and long journeys to helping you to wake up at your destination feeling refreshed.

Snack Smart.
If you’re craving a snack when you’re on the road, it is important to opt for something healthier instead a sweet treat. After years and years of travelling for fun and for work, one of the most important things that I have learnt is the importance of eating well while you’re on the go. This is also great to have as an option to avoid the unhealthy and expensive options while eating on the road, in the airport or on the touring around. For ease, I always throw a compact cooler in my trunk like this Coleman 42 Can Soft Cooler from Walmart to keep everything fresh while on the go.

Narrow down your beauty to the basics.
This summer, as you are planning your summer weekend road trips and vacations away, don’t let you cosmetic kit weigh you down. The key to packing smart, is to only bring the essentials along with you.  And as you are day-dreaming about those warm summer days by the beach, bring along your BIC® Soleil Shine five blade disposable razor with you for flawless smooth legs.

What to wear.
The key to packing smart lies in finding pieces in your wardrobe that not only you can mix and match, but that you can also wear to a variety of occasions as well. Before going on my last road trip, I stocked up on versatile pieces from Columbia that can take me from a hike to dinner in an instant. The WOMEN’S OUTDRY® EX GOLD TRENCH JACKET is a great investment piece because it is perfect for those unexpected spring showers all the way to the cooler fall days. Plus, it is light weight and easy to pack with you all summer long to help you be prepared for whatever the weather may be.

My newest obsession is Yoga Jeans by Second Clothing, While I’ve heard how comfortable they are from numerous people, I didn’t realize how revolutionary they were until I slipped on my first pair. These pants have quickly become my travel essential because they are lightweight, comfortable and keep their shape throughout the day. But, what made me fall in love was the fact that they feel like you are wearing yoga pants without looking like it. This is a traveller’s dream because you can hop from a long car ride, to a quick hike to dinner in an instant without having to change.

The key to surviving a road trip, is having the right footwear so that you are prepared for anything. When travelling with kids, the BOGS  sandals are a great solution because they are supportive for their growing feet but can wash off and withstand whatever mess your little ones find themselves in while on the road. Made with neo-tech straps, the BOGS  summer sandals we’re made for the adventurous little spirit looking to make the most of the summer.
