Choosing the perfect pair of glasses shouldn’t be tough. But buying a versatile pair of glasses does not mean that you have to sacrifice style for function. The trick is to find the right ones that suit you and look great with any outfit. Travelling all over the world to buy for the Karir Eyewear stores, we sat down at with Managing Optician at Karir Eyewear, Namita Karir to learn everything you need to know to pick the right pair of glasses.
What’s the secret to getting eyeglasses that look great?
Colour is always a great choice, they look great on the face and enhances features, like wearing makeup. The glasses should also comfortably go with your wardrobe, so it’s important to choose something that matches your personal style.
What are the top trends in eyewear at you are predicting in 2015?
Acetate frames are still dominating the market, but they are becoming thinner and more refined. We are also seeing a lot of combination frames (for example, plastic tops and metal bottoms) for both men and women. Cat eyes are continuing to be a popular choice for women and we love frames that have architectural details for men.
What are your tips for finding glasses that well too for your face shape?
I typically don’t like to follow the “face shape rules”. I try to complement facial features such as following the eyebrow line and cheekbones. Oval faces can usually wear any shape, square should wear softer shapes, round should wear more angular frames and heart shapes should wear uplifting frames.
Do you have any cleaning or care tips to keep your eyeglasses looking great for longer?
- Keep your glasses away from harsh chemicals such as hair spray.
- Extreme hot and cold environments are also very bad for frames and lenses
(ie. being left in a car on a hot or cold day).
- Always keep your glasses in their case when not in use and get them tuned up every 3-6 months.
