The North American Food Innovation Exhibition (SIAL) took place on May 2nd to May 4th and we were so lucky to get a hold of some of the recipes that the European Union Pavilion created for this unique event. With over 28 countries in the European Union it is not as simple of a task, as one might imagine to pair European favourites with Canadian classics because the options are limitless!
We decided to share one of our favourite recipes from the EU- Canadian Products Pairing by Chef Eric Chong that is perfect as a quick bite or appetizer for guests! I can’t wait to test out this recipes at my next summer barbecue and pair it with the Canadian Berry Spritzer.
Featured Dish: Maple Syrup Ham Crostini
If you are not a fan of Ham alternatives you can use are Gouda (from The Netherlands) or any soft cheeses, French Campagne (Paté), or even Shrimp. My favourite breadsticks to use for crostini are Baguettes or traditional Italian Ciabatta.
Featured Cocktail: Canadian Berry Spritzer
