Last night marked the second day of World MasterCard Fashion Week. Onlookers marveled at the star-studded list of runway presentations which included elan+castor, Narces, Thomas Balint, Bustle, Mélissa Nepton and Target closed the evening. Check out our behind the scenes look at some of the best Canadian designers as they present their Spring/Summer 2015 collections.
Minnie Mouse Style
Hosted by Samantha and Cailianne Beckerman, a private reception and fashion installation was held tonight honouring Minnie Mouse – a style icon that has influenced our interest in fashion every since we were little. With her distinctly feminine and girlish style, Minnie Mouse is one of Disney’s most adored characters evoking a classic, elegant and confident look admired by women of all ages. This year Disney partnered with the Mercedes-Benz Start Up program where all six finalists have created a design inspired by Minnie Mouse. This week has been quite the successful one as tonight Sid Neigum was named with the winning design.
elan+castor
Tonight marked the runway debut of elan+castor at World MasterCard Fashion Week. Their signature bohemian style flowed down the runway with a variety of hand woven knits, silk screening prints and leather details. The “Regeneration Collection” marks Leah Antoinette’s fourth season designing her Spring/Summer 2015 line by incorporating fresh, feminine elements in her pieces which include knitted separates, maxi dresses, and lightweight layers in a soft palette of fuchsia, turquoise, sage, blue, deep purple diffused with cream made from silk chiffon, Egyptian cotton and Merino wool yarns from Italy, a touch of buttery leather and silk and cotton mixed gauze.
Narces
Renown for their eveningwear, Narces has launched a captivating collection of gowns inspired by the Victorian age. Designer Nikki Wirthensohn has incorporated the 17th and 18th century style of birdcages to create elaborately embellished dresses that highlight the female form with floral textures, decorative lace and airy woven materials in light pastels and off-white shades. These luxury gowns, made with the finest fabrics, are perfect for you to make a statement at your next celebration.
Thomas Balint
Inspired by his grandparents who worked as tailors in Budapest, Hungary, Thomas Bálint has developed a Spring/Summer 2015 collection which echo’s the emerging European underground fashion movement. His subversive style incorporates old world nostalgia with contemporary cuts and styles. Creating light weight and versatile pieces, Thomas’s contemporary approach to comfortable and relaxed fashion is refreshing.
Bustle
Bustle strutted down the runway tonight and brought the coastal European party with them. Their Sping/Summer 2015 line brought elements of classic western style to runway with their Mykonos inspired prints and fabrics. Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow’s designs are not for the timid, but for those daring to be bold and stand out in the crowd. Bustle’s line is the life of party incorporating a kaleidoscope of colours and prints within their designs. Their playful approach to the runway show perfectly suited their sport luxe appeal as their models were having fun on the catwalk and enjoying the clothes they were wearing.
Mélissa Nepton
One of the leading designer in Canadian women’s fashion, Montreal’s Mélissa Nepton presented her new line of feminine yet casual pieces in beautiful soft tones like coral pink, baby blue and turquoise made with a variety of fabrics including a mix of textures like organza, jacquard and silk chiffon with sequin and leather detailing perfect for the Spring/Summer ’15 season. Expanding into a new line of chic contemporary jewelry, Nepton’s new line is perfect for the elegant sport girl who dares to experiment with textures and prints in her looks.
Target
This year is the second time Target Canada concluded the second evening of World MasterCard Fashion Week. This year they presented the highlights from their Winter 2014 assortment provided guests with an array of affordable style options. Target provided onlookers with affordable and chic style options that allow you to look great at any costs. This runway presentation showcased a variety of styles and look from their collection and featured 42 models from every ago. They closed the night with a bang ad guests left feeling energized and enthusiastic about their friendly an fun approach to fashion. From the wandering streets of Paris, to the bustling alleys of New York City, Target created a multi-media catwalk show with styles for the whole family.
