For our little adventure, we decided to go for a hike through Sete CidadesSete Cidades (which translates to Seven Cities) is located in a volcanic caldera with a village in the centre and a unique lake that is both blue and green. The legend behind this lake believes that the colour was caused by a beautiful princess fell in love with a shepherd, but they were forbidden by her father from marrying; he did, though, permit them to meet one final time. As they were saying goodbye, her tears ran blue, to form the larger lake; his were green, and created the smaller to cause the two striking colours of the water.

The Lagoa do Fogo (Lagoon of Fire) is protected by the Portuguese government as this crater lake is one of the largest in The Azores. Catch a glimpse of this natural wonder from above to see the expansive nature along the coastline.

This bathing site dates back all the way to the 15th century where locals have been taken dips into this natural swimming pool to enjoy the warm water. Today, visitors can enjoy the onsite spa and facilities at the Termas da Ferraria to turn their bathing experience into a full day excursion.
