Turning social responsibility into a fashion conscious affair, since 2006 TOMS has successfully donated over 35 million pairs of shoes to children in need, giving in over 60 countries. Created by American traveler Blake Mycoskie, their mission was simple; to match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One®. Responding to the rapid growth of this movement, all over the world, TOMS launched their own eyewear collections that helps restore the sight to a person in need with the purchase of a pair of glasses. Responding to the ever evolving changes in fashion, TOMS has launched their Spring/Summer 2015 collection, debuting new styles to fit all aspects of modern life.
TOMS shoes are donated to humanitarian organizations who then integrate these shoes into their community development programs to pass then onto children in need. Expanding from their original alpargata-inspired Classics, TOMS has expanded their collection to now include a variety of functional casual and fashion forward styles for men, women and children. From comfortable espadrilles to cute wedges and their newly launched booties, TOMS’ extensive collection of female footwear are the perfect option to take your look from day to night designed with both comfort and style in mind. Responding to the growing trends in casual city chic sneakers, TOMS’ new collection or male footwear is perfect for a guy looking for the perfect shoe to take him everywhere he needs to be.
Since the launch of TOMS eyewear collection in 2011, over 250 000 individuals have had their site restored in over 10 countries by providing prescription glasses, medical treatment and/or sight-saving surgery with each pair of glasses. This initiative also helps support sustainable community-based eye care programs, the creation of professional jobs (often for young women), and helps provide basic eye care training to local health volunteers and teachers. Designing a variety of sunglasses and eye glass frames, their Spring/Summer 2015 collection has responded to the growing trends in eye wear.
TOMS has also recently launched their own line of premium coffee beans in the United States where all coffee is Direct Trade allowing all farmers to be paid fairly and guaranteed the best prices for their work. Committing to their One for One program, for each bag of coffee sold, individuals from communities from the same regions and countries where the beans were sourced will receive clean water for a week. I choose the delicious light roast Colombian blend with the light aroma of roasted chestnut and flavours of carob, taffy, hints of mango and musk. With a variety of beans Guatemala, Peru, Honduras, Rwanda, Malawi and Colombia, join TOMS Roasting Club to help provide clean water to communities for a whole year. Although this coffee is not yet available in Canada, keep an eye out for these delicious beans the next time you are in America.
With every TOMS product purchased, TOMS will help someone in need. Learn more about their One for One program here: http://www.toms.ca/one-for-one-en
