You Gotta Eat Here: My Review Of Dr. Laffa

One of my favourite things about living in Toronto is how you can experience the authentic culture and food from all around the world everywhere you turn. The other week, I found my new favourite restaurant just a short walk from where I live! Dr Laffa Restaurant has quickly become a pillar in the community offering delicious Israeli-Iraqi fast food. Importing the spices directly from Israel, every dish brings is created with authentic and traditional flavours. Featured on Season 2 of the Food Network show You Gotta Eat Here, Dr. Laffa attracts both people from the neighbourhood and those travelling from all over the city for the home cooked goodness of this cozy family friendly restaurant. Stop by for some great Kosher take out food, and stay to enjoy everything this delicious menu has to offer. Laffa is the traditional Iraqui pita that is oven baked in a special Tabun oven. This bread is the staple item of their menu as it is the perfect item for dipping and use in making their famous sandwiches.
Dr. LaffaA trip to Dr. Laffa is never complete without trying one of their many homemade Hummus’. Made fresh daily, expand your taste buds from the traditional hummus flavours by tasting one of their many variations which include ones topped with chickpeas, tahini, fried eggplant, hot mushrooms, falafel, shawarma or their most famous Dr. Laffa Hummus made with ground beef and pine nuts.

We started off our evening by trying their delicious spread of salads. From the refreshing taste of beets, to the traditional Israeli tabouli Salad, adding spice to the flavour with the pepper dish and then finishing off with my personal favourite the baba ganoush.

For your main dish, Dr. Laffa is notorious for serving delicious laffa sandwiches with a variety of fillings. These giant sandwiches are made fresh to order and mix perfectly the traditional meats and flavours of shawarmas, offset deliciously with fresh salads and vegetables inside.

Dr. LaffaMy personal favourite of the evening was the Shakshuka. Traditionally served for breakfast, this dish of eggs on a tomato sauce was perfectly spiced making it a great warm and comforting dish for colder days.
